OUR VOICE IN ACTION

National Campaigns

Driving systemic change through coordinated advocacy, public education, and government relations.

Our primary focus is the implementation of the National Roadmap for Hearing Health. This roadmap, which we helped architect, provides a comprehensive 10-year plan to improve hearing health outcomes across five key domains: Awareness, Prevention, Diagnosis, Support, and Research.

Advocating for 3.6 Million Australians

Deafness Forum Australia leads campaigns that address the most pressing issues facing our community. From fighting for universal captioning rights to advocating for fair NDIS funding, our campaigns are built on the foundation of lived experience and evidence-based research.

We collaborate with the World Health Organization, federal, state and local governments, and grassroots organisations to ensure that hearing health remains a priority on the national agenda.

ANNUAL INITIATIVE

World Hearing Day Australia

Every March 3rd, we lead the Australian celebrations for World Hearing Day. This WHO initiative focuses on raising awareness of how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care across the world. In Australia, we promote initiatives to bring hearing health into the spotlight.

In 2026 the theme is From Communities to Classrooms: Hearing Care for All Children. Follow us on social media to take part in our activities. Facebook Instagram LinkedIn

ACCESSIBILITY

Over 65 access to funded cochlear sound processor upgrades

We are calling on the Government to expand declared hearing services under the Hearing Services Program to include cochlear implant processors for program users aged 65 years and older. Currently there is no funded pathway and we believe all Australians should have access to communication, regardless of age.
