The Disability Standards for Education seek to ensure that students with disability can access and participate in education on the same basis as other students.
The Standards explain the legal obligations of education authorities and providers across the whole of education, including preschool/kindergartens, school, vocational education and training, and higher education.
Throughout 2020, the Department of Education, Skills and Employment will be reviewing the current Disability Standards for Education. The department is consulting with Deafness Forum of Australia and other peak disability bodies to help design and to inform the Review.
