Paediatric Hearing Services, NABS and the NDIS in a pandemic

Key organisations in the hearing health sector do not believe that the NDIS and the sector are ready to move to new funding arrangements and to a contestable market for the delivery of hearing services to children on 1 July 2020, particularly during this major health crisis.

This decision must be reversed. The Government must not bring further chaos into an already chaotic world by introducing major changes in the delivery of hearing services to a highly vulnerable population.

NABS

The Government will press ahead with plans to move the National Auslan Interpreter Booking & Payment Service, better known as NABS into the National Disability Insurance Scheme by 30 June 2020.

This will create a breach in the nation’s health defence.
