A coordinated national effort to elevate the voices of Australians with sensory disability.

Deafness Forum Australia, Deaf Australia, Deafblind Australia, Blind Citizens Australia and Vision 2020 have formally agreed to work together to address the needs of Australians with sensory disability.
Working collectively under the name Sensory Partners Australia (SPA), member organisations will represent the interests of an estimated four million Australians with sensory disability in the federal public policy space.
This is the first time federal sensory organisations have aligned in this way to elevate the interests of people who are D/deaf, hard of hearing, Blind or low vision, or Deafblind. Too often, these communities are overlooked in broader disability discussions.
The collaboration creates space for coordinated advocacy while ensuring each organisation continues to lead on the issues unique to its members.
“This partnership is about smart, coordinated advocacy. By aligning with the disability categories recognised by government and pooling our knowledge and resources, we can address common barriers more effectively. At the same time, each organisation will continue to lead on the issues unique to its members. Together, we are stronger and better positioned to influence lasting change.”
Readers can expect to see Sensory Partners Australia activities featured across future Deafness Forum Australia communications and advocacy updates.
