For Some Families, Hearing Loss Begins Unexpectedly

Parents and carers are invited to help shape research into medication-related hearing loss in children.

EARSHOTS Advisory Group Callout

If your child developed hearing loss after antibiotic treatment, you may have questions, insights or experiences that could help shape future research.

Deafness Forum Australia, in partnership with Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, is supporting a study into medication-related hearing loss in children. We are inviting parents and carers with this specific lived experience to join a Consumer Advisory Group.

The group will help ensure the research reflects real family journeys, practical realities and the questions that matter most to parents.

Participation includes:

  • • Four online meetings per year
  • • Approximately one hour per session
  • • Paid involvement
  • • No research experience required

Your lived experience matters. It could help inform safer treatment approaches and better support for families in the future.

Because research works best when families are part of shaping it.

To express interest, please contact hello@deafnessforum.org.au .

Submissions will close Thursday, 12 March 2026.
